All golf professionals know that the shaft is the heart of the golf club. Without the proper shaft  the golf club is performing well under it's potential. As an example  if a senior player is playing with a stiff shaft or a shaft that is too heavy  distance will be greatly reduced  making it far more difficult to score. We always try out best to fit our customers with the right shaft for their swing. 

When selecting a shaft the main factor to take into account is the flex. The flex refers to how much the shaft bends during the golf swing. Flex is mainly determined by club head speed. The stronger the player and the harder or faster the swing  the stiffer the shaft needs to be.

Shaft flex is extremely important. Obviously during the golf swing  the shaft bends. The club head  being heavier  will lag behind. The softer the flex  the greater the shaft bends and the farther the club head will lag behind. In some instances this is needed. The softer shaft aides in getting the ball airborne. However  if a player's swing is too fast  the shaft flex is greater  the club head lags  and the shot will face or slice. As a general rule  a stiffer shaft decreases distance but the trade-off is better accuracy.

If you do not know your club head speed  you can reference the scale using approximate distances.
